Sumardagurinn Fyrsti - (First day of summer) - April 26

Celebrate the first day of summer with us, officially on April 23rd, but for convenience we will be celebrating it on April 26th.

In Iceland, the First Day of Summer—called Sumardagurinn Fyrsti—is a national holiday rooted in the Old Norse calendar, which divided the year into just two seasons: winter and summer. According to this system, summer begins on the first Thursday after April 18, usually when Iceland is still experiencing what most people elsewhere would confidently call “winter.”

Today, Icelanders celebrate with parades, marching bands, community events, and small “summer gifts” exchanged among family members. We will be celebrating in the mountains this time in Idaho Springs at a restaurant. Please join us at Tommy Knocker restaurant in Idaho Springs. They have both a great indoor and outdoor space that's both kid and dog friendly.

Please register by filling out the form so we can make a reservation.

Date: April 26

Final day to register: April 21 (we will set registration of the numbers we have on this date)

Time: 3:00 PM

Location: Tommy Knockers  -  1401 Miner Street, Idaho Springs, CO

Cost: Everyone pays for themselves
